Green Sea Turtle// Chelonia mydas
The Green Sea Turtle is the largest sea turtle in the family Cheloniidae. The thing that makes them noticeable is their shell. It is the most noticeable part of their body, growing up to 5ft. The shell covers most of the body except the head and flippers. The Green Sea Turtle also got its name from its green body skin, not its shell which can be brown or a yellow color. The turtles also change a lot as they become adults from being mature. Even th

Green Sea Turtle Niche
PopulationsThere is more than just one population in any species, especially turtles due to the fact they live in oceans. The Green Sea Turtle have populations that vary between the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. Atlantic population' plastron vary from white, dirty white, to yellowish. From the Pacific populations we see colors like grayish, blue, and green. All the green sea turtles can grow up to 1.5 meters and weigh about 300kg making it the biggest sea turtle. There are no major changes between the populations besides the color and size of the turtle.

Disaster
![Picture](/uploads/4/7/6/6/47663449/7269943.jpeg?250)
In the future we can be sure that human pollution is going to affect the Green Sea Turtles because its happening now. Green Sea Turtles lose more and more of their habitats everyday do to human pollution like oil spills. How will this affect Green Sea Turtles and other ocean-bound animals?
The Green Sea Turtle is already endangered. With more and more dying they will quickly become extinct unless it evolves to survive the pollution in its habitat. The pollution will contain plastic and oil being thrown into the ocean. The Green Sea turtles will end up being killed by getting caught in the plastic or the oil will contaminate their food and they'll die of poison.

Adaptations
If the Green Sea Turtle did not adapt quickly it would become extinct. The variations include; sharper beak and more camouflage. The sharper beak will help the turtles rip through any plastic it may become entangled in, but the main reason a sharper beak would help is so the turtle could change its diet. Now adult Green Sea Turtles are herbivores and the oil from the disaster can effect the food, killing the turtles, but with the sharp beak it will allow the turtles to eat smaller fish that aren't contaminated. The camouflage will allow the turtle to blend with the plants and rocks to keep away from predators as the populations grow. Both of the variations would be Directional Selection because they both favor an 'extreme' trait over another depending on food sources and environment. This should allow the Green Sea Turtle to grow in population and grow out of the title of "endangered".
